Novels by Joe Haldeman 2

The Enterprise finds a vast generation ship, Chatalia, that drains energy from everything near it. Once the landing party beams aboard, there is no beaming back out.

Detoured to survey an impossible planet orbited by a black hole, the Enterprise finds its technology failing and its crew at the mercy of beings who seem to rewrite the laws of physics.
