Picard looks back on his life: growing up on the family vineyard, the Stargazer, the Borg, his torture by the Cardassians and his years in command of the Enterprise.

Kirk tells his own life story, from his childhood on Tarsus IV and his years at the Academy to his command of the Enterprise and beyond, with letters and log entries along the way.
